A DiSimoni Thanksgiving
One of the many of my family’s Thanksgiving’s commenced this
past Sunday, November 19th. It was just a small get together of my
Grandparents, Uncle Bobby and Aunt Jill, Uncle Chris, my cousin Sara, and of
course my father, his partner, and my mother and sister (although mother and
sister arrived post meal). Maybe a bit different of a dynamic than some, but,
my different and perfect family.
Our meal consisted of a spiral ham with pineapple, green
beans with bell peppers, cheesy broccoli potatoes, and the ever-popular
Pilsbury crescent rolls. As great of a meal as it was we did not have a
specific drink pairing to go with our fantastic meal. Don’t get me wrong, my
Uncle Chris did come through with a red apple liquor however not my ideal
choice. Although I had to admit I did whip up quite an enjoyable little hot
apple cider cocktail with it.
Ingredients:
·
1 cup of apple cider
·
1 shot (or a splash and a half) of DeKuper Red
Apple Liquor
Directions:
1.
Heat apple cider in a mug for a 1 minute and 30
seconds in microwave
2.
Then just add liquor (to your desire of course)
For our real Thanksgiving on Thursday the 25th, I
am putting the responsibility on myself to come through with a bottle of, from
what my minimal knowledge and a little help from my professor has given me, I
will bring a bottle of Cru Beaujolais. Not only I have decided on this because
my wine professor highly recommended it with Thanksgiving dinner, but because
it pairs well with roasted wild game and poultry, and appetizers, and what is
more Thanksgiving than the bird and the apps?
Now that we have that all figured out, good thing the real
Thanksgiving is at my mothers rather than my fathers and mom and sister should
surely make it to Thanksgiving on time. But who knows maybe my sister will have
to get her nails done again, but hey at least we will have the wine this time!
